The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) is a collaborative initiative between the Atlantic provinces of Canada and the federal government aimed at addressing labor market shortages and demographic challenges in the region. Launched in 2017, the AIPP seeks to attract skilled foreign workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs to Atlantic Canada.
The Atlantic Immigration Program offers skilled foreign workers and international graduates from Canadian institutions a route to permanent residency, enabling them to work and reside in one of Canada's four Atlantic provinces.
On December 17, 2021, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program transitioned to become the permanent Atlantic Immigration Program. Officially launched on January 1, 2022, this program enables employers in the Atlantic provinces of Canada to recruit immigrants for job opportunities. Additionally, individuals have the opportunity to apply for permanent residency through this program, offering a pathway to long-term settlement in the region.
The Atlantic Immigration Program aims to bolster Atlantic Canada's workforce by welcoming newcomers to address the needs of local employers and communities. It enables designated local employers to attract and retain global talent, contributing to population growth, skill development, and increased employment rates in the region.
