ABOUT IMMIGRATION VISA IN CANADA

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is a community-driven initiative launched by the Canadian federal government in 2019, as announced in a June 14, 2019 news release by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The primary aim of the RNIP is to extend the advantages of economic immigration to smaller communities across Canada. Specifically tailored to encourage newcomers to settle permanently in 11 selected communities, the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot endeavors to establish these communities as the permanent residences of these newcomers.

By attracting individuals to these specific communities, the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot seeks to stimulate local economic growth, thereby supporting the creation of various middle-class jobs within these communities.

11 rural and northern communities were chosen to represent a cross-section of regions throughout Canada and will serve as models for similar initiatives nationwide. They are located across five provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, with five communities from Ontario, two from British Columbia and Manitoba, respectively, and one from Alberta and Saskatchewan each.

The 11 communities named on June 14 are located in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
