British Columbia (BC) is Canada's westernmost province, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Rocky Mountains. Renowned for its stunning landscapes, BC is also a leader in economic growth, relying on immigration to meet its labour market needs.
The BC Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) serves as the province's primary economic immigration pathway. It offers a route to permanent residence for highly skilled workers and experienced entrepreneurs in demand, facilitating their settlement in BC to build a future and raise a family.
The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) serves as a pathway for skilled entrepreneurs and in-demand overseas immigrants to immigrate to Canada and attain permanent residency in the province. It expedites the process for immigrants looking to settle permanently in BC and obtain Canada PR status.
Some of the BC PNP streams operate through a unique system called the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). Under SIRS, potential candidates must create a profile detailing their education, language proficiency, work experience, and job offer in BC. Candidates are then scored out of 200 based on an Expression of Interest (EOI) and Invitation to Apply (ITA) process. Periodic draws are conducted by the Government of British Columbia, inviting candidates who meet the cut-off threshold for nomination.
While certain BC PNP streams require candidates to have a job offer from a BC employer, specific streams managed outside SIRS do not have this requirement. In 2017, BC PNP introduced the Tech Pilot Program, allowing IT and tech workers to migrate to BC and obtain Canada PR status.
BC PNP has two main components:
